During the Monday night game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Nick Chubb, the standout running back for the Cleveland Browns, had to be taken off the field on a cart due to a knee injury. Following the game, Browns' head coach Kevin Stefanski expressed his belief that Chubb will likely be out for the rest of the season.
During the early moments of the second quarter, Chubb had a collision with Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick following a 5-yard run. As the tackle was executed by Fitzpatrick, Chubb's legs ended up in an awkward position, causing discomfort.
Immediately after the play, one of his teammates reached out to lend a helping hand, but Chubb shook his head in response, all the while clutching his left knee. He proceeded to unstrap his chinstrap and rolled over onto his side.
It's worth noting that Chubb had previously suffered a severe knee injury back in 2015 while playing college football at Georgia. That injury involved a dislocated knee along with three torn ligaments. Similar to the previous incident, the events of Monday night were tough to witness, prompting ESPN to refrain from showing replays of the play that led to his injury.
After the injury, Chubb stayed down on the field for a few minutes, and his teammates gathered nearby, offering their prayers and support. Eventually, he had to be taken off the field on a cart. Up to that point in the game, Chubb had made 10 runs for a total of 64 yards.
Jerome Ford stepped in as his replacement and made an immediate impact, scoring a 3-yard reception right after Chubb's departure. Ford then successfully executed a 2-point conversion, putting the Browns in the lead with a score of 11-7.
Following Chubb's injury, many NFL stars, including LeBron James, took to social media to send their best wishes and support. This outpouring of well-wishes also included messages from some of Chubb's former teammates, such as Baker Mayfield and Sony Michel.
